What is an eBook?

Also known as electronic books, eBooks are digital versions of books that can be read on personal computers or mobile devices, like the iPhone, Blackberry, Palm, and Sony Reader. An ebook is an electronic file which has been pre-formatted for viewing on a mobile handheld device, PDA, or computer. This eBook file can be opened only in a designated type of software (a "reader") and is usually copy-protected from being freely.

How do I buy an eBook?

You can find eBooks on our website either by using "Search for eBooks" in the menu to the left or by using the regular search function and then clicking on the eBooks tab. As with other products, you simply add the eBook to your shopping cart and check out as normal. You will then receive a confirmation email allowing you to download your eBook.

How do I read an eBook?

First, if you haven't already installed a software reader on your computer or handheld device, you'll need to do that. The specific reader you need depends on which device you'll be using for eBook reading. We sell eBooks in one to three formats, depending on publisher and title. Adobe Digital Editions is compatible only with the Sony Reader; Microsoft Reader is compatible only with Pocket PC PDAs and Windows Mobile Phones; eReader is by far the most versatile format,compatible with iPhones, Blackberries, and Palm PDAs and Phones.
